\n<\/span>SC Personhood Amendment<\/u><\/b><\/span> – Reported to full SC Senate April 13, 2016<\/a>;
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Placed on full Senate Calendar April 14, 2016<\/a> – but S.719<\/a> is the 57th bill <\/span>listed under ‘Statewide Second Reading Bills’.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Now<\/u> S.719<\/a> Needs<\/u> ‘Special Order’<\/u> Status<\/u>,<\/span> which requires 2\/3 Senate vote<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>The good news is that for the first time, S.719<\/a> is on the Senate Calendar.\u00a0 The bad news is that:
\n<\/b><\/span>
\n<\/span>1) S.719<\/a> is contested by two pro-‘abortion’ Senators ( Hutto<\/a> , Bright Matthews<\/a> ), and;
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>2) S.719<\/a> is the 57th bill listed on the Senate Calendar<\/a> under ‘Statewide Second Reading Bills’.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The remedy for this challenging situation is to lobby the SC Senators to give S.719<\/a> what is known\u00a0<\/span>as ‘<\/span>Special Order’<\/span>, which moves it up to the front of the calendar.\u00a0 It takes a 2\/3 vote of Senators <\/span>present and voting to be given Special Order.\u00a0 If all 45 Senators are present ( 27 R, 18 D ), that\u00a0<\/span>means 30 votes are required.\u00a0 If one or more Senators are absent or decide to abstain, that would\u00a0<\/span>lower the number of votes needed to attain the 2\/3 threshold.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Since the there are 27 members of the Republican Caucus in the SC Senate, they have great\u00a0<\/span>influence over what bills are given Special Order when they vote as a consensus block.\u00a0 There\u00a0<\/span>are only three ‘Special Order’ slots available on the calendar, however at least one is known\u00a0<\/span>to be open right now at the present time.\u00a0 We want the 27 Senate Republicans to first agree <\/span>within the Republican Senate Caucus, and then quickly vote on the Senate floor, to give\u00a0<\/span>S.719<\/a> SC Personhood Constitutional Amendment ‘Special Order’.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Next Tuesday,\u00a0 April 19, at\u00a0 11AM,\u00a0 the\u00a0 Republican Senate Caucus meets in Room 209,\u00a0<\/span>Gressette Senate Building, and will likely consider the matter of what bill to give the one\u00a0<\/span>known open ‘Special Order’ slot.\u00a0 So we have between now and then to call and e-mail\u00a0<\/span>the 27 Senate Republicans urging them to agree to give S.719<\/a> ‘Special Order’ status\u00a0<\/span>when they meet April 19, and then to quickly actually move and vote to do so on the\u00a0<\/span>floor of the SC Senate.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>There are in fact competing bills which various parties wish to obtain ‘Special Order’.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>We need to bring a Christian witness of advocacy for giving S.719<\/a> SC Personhood <\/span>Constitutional Amendment ‘Special Order’ between now and next Tuesday to:
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>1) The new Senate Majority ( Republican ) Leader, Senator Shane Massey<\/a> ( R – Aiken, <\/span>Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick & Saluda ) and;
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>2) The rest of the Republican Senators statewide in SC ( 27 Republicans<\/a> total in <\/span>SC Senate ).<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
